Name: Trunks — Trio of Pedestals

Trunks is a set of three upright volumes with organic, irregular cross-sections that recall sections cut from a tree. The edges are soft and rounded, and the outline of each form undulates gently, so none of them is a plain cylinder — the silhouettes feel grown rather than drawn. A deep, warm plum-brown tone and visible grain keep the trace of the material in the surface, while a satin sheen underlines the fluidity of the shape. Bases in muted brass extend slightly beyond the outline of each volume, forming a distinct plinth that lifts the pieces off the floor and lends them lightness. Three different heights allow them to stand as a rhythmic group or to be dispersed through a room.

Every piece is handmade — turned, shaped and finished entirely by hand, outside of serial production. The drawing of the grain, the depth of the colour and the patina on the brass base never repeat, which keeps every set one of a kind. The volumes are functional as well as sculptural, serving as side tables, pedestals for sculpture or plants, or occasional seating. They look best in a living room, a hallway or beside an armchair. A soft dry cloth is all the care they need.
