Balanced Forms — Wooden Sculpture

Balanced Forms is a vertical composition built from three elements stacked one upon another. The base is a plain, darker cube with pronounced grain, on which a large almond-shaped mass rests at a single point — slender, curved and pierced by a round opening that lets light through and reveals the background. A third, smaller form with a rounded teardrop profile balances on its top. The whole construction appears precarious, caught mid-movement, though it is in fact perfectly stable — and that tension is the heart of the piece. The pale, warm wood of the upper volumes contrasts with the darker plinth, while a smooth matte surface carries light softly across the curves.

Every piece is handmade — carved, sanded and oiled entirely by hand, outside of serial production. Wood is a natural material, so the drawing of the grain, the tone and the small differences in curvature never repeat, which keeps each Balanced Forms one of a kind. The sculpture works well on a console, a sideboard, a bookshelf or a desk, ideally against a plain background that lets its silhouette and its opening read clearly. A soft dry cloth is all the care it needs.
