Capital — Ionic Column Stool

Capital is a playful reinterpretation of the classical Ionic order: the ancient architectural detail has been swollen, rounded and rescaled until it reads more like a soft cushion than a fragment of a stone temple. The signature volutes curl into gentle spirals on either side, while the shaft carries vertical, softly rounded fluting that suggests a column seen through the lens of a child's toy. An intense saturated blue and a matte, velvety surface strip the form of its stone solemnity entirely — the object becomes light, graphic and surprisingly warm to the touch. Depending on where you place it, the piece works as a stool, a side table or a standalone sculpture.

Every piece is handmade — shaped, smoothed and finished entirely by hand, outside of mass production. Small variations in the curl of the volutes, the depth of the fluting and the evenness of the matte surface are a natural quality of hand-working, which makes each Capital unique. The object performs beautifully as a strong colour accent in a minimalist interior — in a living room, a hallway, beside a bed or in a studio. A dry or slightly damp cloth, without harsh detergents, is all the care it needs.
