The Pair — Two Silhouettes

The Pair consists of two slender figures reduced to the simplest possible notation of a human presence: an upright shaft tapering slightly towards the base, a subtle narrowing where the neck would be, and a smooth oval head. There are no facial features and no arms — what remains is presence itself and the relationship between the two forms. Placed close together they read as a couple standing in silence; moved further apart they begin to tell an entirely different story. The figures differ slightly in height and profile, so the composition feels natural rather than mirrored. Warm cream stone with rust-gold veining and a soft satin sheen gives both forms a gentle character that sits well with wood, linen and light interiors.

Every piece is handmade — carved, shaped and sanded entirely by hand, outside of serial production. Because the material is natural stone, the drawing of the veins, the shade and the small differences in proportion never repeat, so every Pair is one of a kind. The sculptures look best on a console, a mantelpiece, a shelf or in an alcove, ideally against a darker background that brings out their pale silhouettes. A dry or slightly damp cloth is all the care they need.
