Reflection — Arch and Chalice

Reflection is a flat rectangular mass in which the same arched motif appears twice — once facing down, once facing up. On the left the arch is cut into the lower edge, forming a classical architectural passage on two legs; on the right the identical curve is inverted, opening upward like a narrow chalice. That simple reversal turns an ordinary block into a play of void against solid and lets the object read at once as a fragment of architecture and as an abstract sign. The surface is matte and milk-white, lightly flecked with dark specks that give it depth and recall the texture of terrazzo. The narrow profile means the sculpture almost disappears when seen from the side and reveals its full drawing from the front.

Every piece is handmade — shaped, sanded and finished entirely by hand, outside of serial production. The distribution of the flecking, the small variations in the curvature of the arches and the depth of the matte finish never repeat, which makes each Reflection unique. The sculpture works well on a bookshelf, a console, a desk or a mantelpiece — on its own or paired with a darker form. The upper recess can hold a single dry branch. A dry or slightly damp cloth is all the care it needs.
