Owl in Gold

Owl in Gold is a compact ceramic figure built from a few large geometric planes. The silhouette widens towards the base like calmly folded wings, while a small head with a faintly marked beak and a single round eye tilts to one side, giving the piece its distinctive, curious expression. The body is divided into irregular fields: smooth, cool areas in grey-green glaze with a fine crackled web sit alongside sections covered in densely textured gold. That contrast — the matte depth of the glaze beside a rough, glittering shine — keeps the sculpture shifting under the light and looking different from every angle.

Every piece is handmade — shaped, glazed and gilded entirely by hand, outside of serial production. The crackle forms on its own during firing and the gold is applied with a brush, so the arrangement of the fields, the density of the crazing and the distribution of the shine never repeat. That is what makes each Owl one of a kind. The sculpture looks at home on a bookshelf, a console, a sideboard or a desk, ideally against a calm, plain background that lets the gold speak. A soft dry cloth is all the care it needs.
