Doe — Sectional Sculpture

Doe is a slender figure built from flat, intersecting cross-sections that assemble into a complete three-dimensional silhouette. Instead of a solid mass you get an open construction: vertical planes form the body and haunches, hoops run around the neck and back, and the interior stays hollow, so light passes through the piece and the space behind it remains visible. The effect is remarkably light — the animal seems merely sketched in the air. The posture is precisely observed: neck extended, ears raised, thin legs slightly apart in a moment of alert stillness. A deep rust-brown tone and a matte, faintly grained surface give the whole a warm, natural character that sits easily alongside wood, linen and greenery.

Every piece is handmade — the individual elements are cut, finished and assembled by hand, outside of serial production. Small variations in surface texture and in the depth of the patina are an inherent quality of the work and make each Doe one of a kind. The sculpture works beautifully in a corner of a living room, by a window, in a hallway or beside a potted plant — anywhere side light can bring out the rhythm of the sections and the shadow they cast. A dry cloth or a soft brush is all the care it needs.
